this layout & design process

This paper design is a version 2 of my original portfolio layout. More vibrant, more textured, and better themed, it surprisingly was developed over only a day, as opposed to the first which took close to a week. I suppose when you have an idea and it gets rolling, everything falls into place alot easier and faster.
I'm a huge lover of grey, and it was originally pretty bleak looking because of that. Blue was added naturally, given the name of my domain, and because blue too is a cold colour, I thought some pink would brighten it up. I'm not really a pink kind of girl but I love contrast.
The design was mocked up in photoshop first:
Then the various elements merged/cut into their own images:
(My photoshop background colour is pink instead of grey because of all the grey in this design)
And then finally hand coded by myself, tableless css and html, with a snippet of php.
I'm rather content with the end result. I'm especially obsessed and in love with the mouseover effects for the pink paper links. All the small things, right? As much as I can appreciate the web 2.0 "styles", I always was a fan of grungy/textured/crafty/unique looking designs for my own websites.
